Hugh has appeared in several movies, mainly in a supporting role; brief selections from
some of them are provided here. Most have been released on VHS or DVD at one
time or another, though not always in the US. (They are pretty easy to find on
eBay). If a more details
link is provided, there is a separate page with additional information about the
movie.

There's a small glitch about half way through, hopefully not too
distracting. Also, lots and lots of Hugh-centric screencaps from the entire
film.

1994 |
Hugh played Uncle
in this film about life in 1950s Czechoslovakia, told mainly through the
eyes of his niece Marushka. Both
hughlaurie.net
and the Hugh Laurie FAQ Forum (part
1,
part 2) have posted clips and/or screencaps that cover most of
Hugh's scenes. I've selected two short clips that I don't think are on the
other sites to give you a taste of the film. The first is a 1:57 clip that
captures its surreal nature. The second is a 1:48 clip from late in the
film, when Marushka warns her uncle he's in danger. My screencaps are from
all of Hugh's scenes. Capped from OTA VHS recording supplied by a
generous colleague. Video is jittery and there is some tearing in the 2nd
clip.

7:58 compilation
of scenes with Hugh as Mr. Palmer. The film cuts back and forth between
different conversation groups in most of these scenes, and in most cases
I've cut out the bits where Hugh isn't visible. But hopefully the clip will
give you enough of a taste that you can decide whether to get the DVD of the
film. capped from TV broadcast
