Upcoming Programs & Appearances

This page lists upcoming NEW programs and/or personal appearances by Hugh that I am aware of. It probably isn't complete; I don't have any inside info :) I will only list repeats for things that are rarely on TV. A few merchandise releases are noted as well.

7 Nov 2014 - Mr Pip (USA)

Mr. Pip will be out on VOD and limited theatrical release in the US November 7th. It is already on VUDU and iTunes for preorder. I haven't found any theaters with showtimes yet though... It is also showing up on Amazon as a DVD release November 11th.

18 Nov 2014 - LittleBigPlanet 3 (NEW)

Sony has announced that Hugh is voicing the villain, Newton, in this Playstation video game out in November. Stephen Fry is the narrator. (Newton sounds very Dr. Cockroach-y in the promo interview.)

25 Nov 2014 - Jeeves & Wooster DVD (USA)

Acorn Media is re-releasing Jeeves & Wooster in the US. No idea if there's anything new about it other than the box...

Jan 2015???????? - Paper Soldier (UK)

Various booksellers have updated their catalogs to give Paper Soldier or Paper Soldiers a release date in January. However, the publisher given (Penguin UK/Michael Joseph Ltd) doesn't even list Hugh as one of their authors, so... I'll believe this one when there are copies for sale.

22 May 2015 - Tomorrowland (USA)(NEW)

Hugh will play the villain opposite George Clooney in super-secret high-profile sci-fi film Tomorrowland, written by Damon Lindelof and Jeff Jensen and directed by Brad Bird.

Filming started in Vancouver at the end of August 2013 and finished 6 February 2014. The release date has been pushed out from Dec 2014 to May 2015.

2015? - The Night Manager (UK/USA)

The Hollywood Reporter reports than Hugh and Tom Hiddleston are signed up for a limited series TV adaptation of John le Carré's The Night Manager. It will air on the BBC in the UK and is being shopped to US channels.

The BBC has confirmed they are doing a 6-episode series, but did not announce any casting.

Winter 2015? - The Canterville Ghost (UK)(NEW)

@stephenfry tweeted that he and Hugh will be voicing a new animated feature of Oscar Wilde's The Canterville Ghost. The production company website now says due for release Winter 2015 while IMDB says 31 Oct 2016. Yeah, not holding my breath...
